Course being planned for Spring, 2013.  Check back for specific dates!

There are over 5,000 Natural Gas Vehicles (NGV) currently registered in the state of Utah, with more being converted and put into service every week.  This is creating a large demand for certified NGV repair technicians, high pressure cylinder inspectors, and NGV fuel system installers.

SLCC provides training for that covers the installation, maintenance and inspection of alternative fuel vehicles.  Our instructors utilize their 30+ years of experience in the NGV Field.  The knowledge they bring provides students with excellent in class instruction. SLCC's modern automobile repair training facilities provides comprehensive and hands on experiential learning, including NGV fuel system operating principles, fuel system installation, cylinder inspection and inspection and repair for both factory, and aftermarket fuel systems. All this culminates in the full conversion of a vehicle.

The course covers material needed to obtain CSA, and manufacturer specific fuel system installation certifications including:

ASE Alternate Fuels Certification (F1)

NGV fuel system operating principles

NGV fuel system installation

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) cylinder inspection

NGV inspection and repair for both factory and aftermarket
fuel systems

As part of the College's commitment and continued efforts toward sustainability, many of our fleet vehicles have the capability of using E85 Fuel to help enhance a cleaner environment and we are looking in to converting more of our fleet vehicles to run on CNG.  Find out more about all the SLCC Sustainability efforts.
