Put yourself in a position to compete for a rewarding career in Utah's growing energy industry by enrolling in SLCC's Electric Power Technology Certificate program. By completing this training, you will have the educational foundation and practical experience Utah's energy industry employers look for when hiring for their entry-level technician positions.

Program courses are taught by instructors wtih significant industry experience. Courses include: Electrical Theory; Transformer Basics; Print Reading; Electrical Distribution Systems; Underground Distribution Systems; Pole Climbing, Ropes and Rigging.

To qualify for the Electric Power Technology certificate program, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Achieve a Level 4 score (or above) on the Work Keys exam.

    OR
  • Score an 81 or above in the Reading category and a 54 or above in the Algebra category of the Accuplacer  exam.

    OR
  • Have successfully completed MATH 0950 (or equivalent) and RDG 0990 (or equivalent) with a grade of C+ or above.

The next iteration of the Electric Power Technology program will begin on August 21, 2013 and will be conducted in an evening format. Classes are conducted Monday - Thursday, 6pm - 9pm. The program will run from August 21, 2013 - August 27, 2014.
