Group Fitness Instructor Training

Group Fitness Instructor Training

Group Fitness instructors need the knowledge and skills to create a safe, interesting class that will motivate, instruct and lead to improving their participant’s health and wellness. Job opportunities exist in County Parks and Recreation departments, for profit health clubs, community centers, non-profit centers, and corporate fitness sites, etc.

There is a need for enthusiastic, qualified, and certified instructors.  To fill this need, SLCC has partnered with ACE (American Council on Exercise) to bring the Group Fitness Instructor Curriculum to help student prepare to sit for their nationally recognized and accredited, by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), examination.

This course helps prepare successful participants for the American Council on Exercise (ACE) Group Fitness Certification Exam. The fitness industry has exploded with many options, from one-day courses to online certifications and licensing programs. However, the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) and Medical Fitness Association (MFA) recommend that club owners hire fitness professionals with certifications that are accredited by the NCCA or an equivalent organization. ACE has this essential accreditation. Participants will be eligible for discounts on ACE exam preparation materials and will receive a 20% discount off of the ACE certification exam fee.

In addition to test preparation, the workshop also helps students develop practical skills to lead a safe and effective group fitness class by examining professional responsibilities and developing skills in course design, group instruction methods, and leadership and management techniques.
