Where are the trainings held?

Therapeutic Recreation Technician (TRT) courses are held at

How do I register?

If you are taking TRT for credit, you must first be admitted to SLCC. Go to http://www.slcc.edu/students-future/admissions to apply for admission. There is a $40 non-refundable application fee. Once you are admitted to SLCC, you will register online through MyPage.

If you are taking TRT non-credit, call our Registration Office at 801-957-5200.

How much does it cost?

Whether you are taking TRT for credit or non-credit, tuition is $574.   There will be a packet/book fee of $100.  If the  textbook is returned at the end of the course, then students will be issued a $75 refund.   

This course is not eligible for Federal Financial Aid.

Is there tuition assistance available?

Short Term Intensive Training (STIT) funds may be available through the State of Utah to students taking non-credit courses.  If funds are available and a student meets eligibility requirements, 50% of tuition for the non-credit course is covered.  Please ask the Program Coordinator for more details.

What if I take the class for non-credit but later decide to pursue my degree? Can I change this class to credit so it will transfer?

No. Once you take the class as non-credit we can not change it to credit. If you think you might use this class towards future education goals, we recommend taking it for credit.

Is the State of Utah Licensing Examination part of the course?

No. The Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL) handles the test. You will need to contact them and arrange to take the exam. For further information please go to http://www.dopl.utah.gov/licensing/occupational_therapy.html
