From capturing the power of the sun and converting it into a source of clean energy to reducing energy consumption by efficient use of resources,  Salt Lake Community College has made a commitment to help prepare Utah's workforce for a bright future in renewable energy technologies and energy conservation.

Our Solar Program certificate courses instruct students in basic electrical theory, learning the major components of a PV system and all the way up to the design and installation of large array PV systems.

Students earning this non-credit certificate will have completed the requisite training hours to qualify for taking the following NABCEP recognition or certification exams:

Entry Level Exam This recognition demonstrates to potential employers achievement of a basic knowledge of the fundamental principles of paplication, design, installation and operation of PV and Solar Heating systems.

PV Technical Sales Certification** - This certification acknowledges understanding of site analysis, system design, ethical presentation, accurate analyses and projections of electrical and financial performace for PV systems.

PV Installer Certification** - This certification acknowledges PV installers with skills and experience in the overall system installation and is targeted to the personal responsible for that installation such as the contractor, foreman or supervisor.

Where can this training and certification lead?

The U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative is a national collaborative effort to to make solar energy cost-competitive with other forms of electricity by the end of the decade. Curriculum is presented by experienced, NABCEP certified instructors who also bring extensive knowledge and skills from their years in the industry.
