The Substation Apprenticeship program is designed to provide related technical instruction for students currently employed as apprentice substation technicians in the power generation and distribution industry. In coordination with an electric sector industry specialist, this program covers topics topics related to construction, maintenance, and operation of substations including: AC and DC electrical theory; safety protocols required when working with electricity; transformer theory and transformer connections; ropes and rigging; grounding; switchgear and metering.
